Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Gilt and Azure Swatch and Review

It's raining today in SoCal, which marks the beginning of the rainy season for us.  Luckily I don't need to drive very far or often because people in LA can't drive in the rain.  There, I said it.  Growing up on the East Coast, I'm accustomed to rain at least once a week and know how to drive carefully in it whereas the West Coasters tend to drive a bit madly.  The only thing I can blame myself right now is for not changing my windshield wipers.  I have new ones in the car but it's hard juggling a baby and changing windshield wipers without getting dirty and then handling the baby.  Isn't the husband suppose to be involved somewhere?  Oy vey.

Today I have the elusive two shades that were released as part of the Sally Hansen Lustre Shine collection but not found in the displays that are in stores.  These are available online at drugstore.com and I don't know whether they'll ever be sent in stores.  In any case, these were a big yawn for me and not nearly as interesting as the ones in stores.  Neither were duochromatic and ended up being standard foil colors.  Both had visible brush strokes as well.  The other two that I reviewed earlier, Lava and Firefly, were much more satisfying with hitting the duochrome sweet spot.

First is Gilt, a gold foil polish.  I used two layers but probably could have used three for full opacity.  No topcoat so you can see how it shines on its own.

Next is Azure, a blue foil.  Nothing really interesting here either, two coats again with no topcoat.  There might be a slight duochrome going on with this, flashing to navy or purple in some lights.

Neither of these are worth writing home about, so you can probably save your money and use it for another color.  Sorry Sally, you didn't trip my trigger this time.

  1. Thanks for swatching these - I've been so curious about them, since they weren't in stores! Guess I'm not missing much, but it's good to know!
