Naild' It Unique Nail Polish Holo, My Name Is... Swatch And Review

Yay for a three day weekend!!  Are you going out of town at all?  I heard on the news that the most visited city this weekend will be New York.  I could only wish I was one of those people visiting it.  I haven't been to NYC in over two years I think.  I miss the energy, sophistication, and the comraderie of New Yorkers.  Perhaps next year I'll find some time to sneak away from work and take the family to visit.  My brother and BFF live there so it would be nice to see them!  Are you planning on going this weekend or anytime soon?

Tonight I have a lovely duochrome holo by Naild' It Unique Nail Polish called Holo, My Name Is...  I love that indies come out with polish colors and finishes that are way ahead of mainstream polishes.  All you have to do is dream up a color and finish, and I'm sure any indie could help make it come to life.  Holo, My Name Is... is a stunning silvery teal blue shift to purple duochrome that has a fantastic linear holo.  I used three coats for full opacity and had no balding or difficulty with application.  No topcoat in these pics.  The first is in the light tent, the rest are under direct light.  Beware, this is picture heavy!

Oh Lord Jesus it's a fire!  Well, those are my sentiments anyway, when I gaze upon this glorious color!   I had a difficult time capturing the duochrome color shift, but it's definitely there.  The rainbows in this holo are outstanding and the flare moves as if it had a life of its own.  This is definitely one of my favorite indie holos ever and I hope to get more of Naild' It polishes in the future!  Have you tried this brand before?

PS this post took me two hours to post.... oy vey!  LO woke up twice as I was writing this and I had to put her back to sleep each time... I usually have to put her to sleep at least once in the middle of every post I put up, so most posts take me about an hour.  My brain is half dead after her waking up twice so I apologize if I didn't make sense above!

Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie 2.0 Swatch And Review

Purchased

Boy am I exhausted!  I spent the entire day out in the field and was in and out of the car all day long in the heat.  I don't look forward to days like that because of the driving and the office visits, but it's nice to get out of the office once in a while.

I'm going to keep this post short and sweet.  This is Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie 2.0, a gorgeous bronzey gold shimmer with flecks of silver.  It was smooth and easy to apply with a slightly liquid-y consistency, and was nearly opaque in one coat.  I used two in these pics with no topcoat.

Scrangie's inspiration was a colorful oil slick, and I must say, Ji nearly hit it on the nail(no pun intended).  I really enjoy this color and think it's perfect for transitioning into fall.  There's also a delicate sparkle that was really difficult to capture on camera but is obvious in real life.  I've been limiting my RBL purchases but this was a must have from that collection.  Did you pick any up from that release?

Gabriel Cosmetics Poseidon and Hibiscus Swatch And Review

Happy Thursday!  The week is almost over and I'm hoping the last few days will go by fast.  I just realized that my mother is coming back out to visit on Sunday and she'll be staying for a little over two weeks.  I'm excited to see her again and I'm looking forward to the extra help.  Plus, mom's home cooking is always welcomed!  Speaking of home cooking - did anyone see MasterChef tonight?  Being Vietnamese and having visited Vietnam, I have no idea what dish they cooked.  I *think* it might be Hu Tieu Mi, but that usually includes shrimp.  Close enough I suppose!

Today I have a new to me brand called Gabriel Cosmetics, a company known for their natural, vegan, and cruelty free products.  I'm always a little skeptical when companies make too-good-to-true claims like that, so I had to try out their nail polish and see how it performs.

My first polish is a dark navy cream called Poseidon.  I don't have many dark blue creams because of my fear of staining, but given that it's all natural and 5 free, I couldn't resist.  I used two coats and got perfect opacity with no streaking or pooling during application.  It dried quickly to a high gloss shine.  No topcoat shown in these pics so you can see its natural shine.  I like that this didn't pull too dark on me and look black, which will make it a perfect polish to use as a base color whenever I have a need for dark blue.

For my next color, I went to the opposite side of the color spectrum and went with a bright orange leaning coral cream called Hibiscus.  This only needed two coats for opacity as well, however the first coat was a little patchy but the second coat evened it out.  It didn't self level entirely on its own but a layer of topcoat made it perfect.  I like that it appears to have some jelly qualities to it, which is probably why it didn't apply as easily as Poseidon.

Overall, I really like both of these colors and I had no difficulties with application.  Gabriel Cosmetics has definitely made a believer out of me, and I won't hesitate to use any of their products.  This day and age, there are so many things out there to be concerned about when it comes to personal health and protecting the environment, and this company makes it easy to shop for products without any worry or guilt.  Another huge plus is that these are easily found at your local neighborhood health food store at a reasonable price.  If you'd like to check out their products, visit their website at Gabriel Cosmetics to see their wide range of products and get free shipping over $50.  Have you seen or tried this brand before?

Oh, and I did a quick saran wrap technique in an opportunity to use both polishes together... It didn't work out well due to my own poor execution, but scroll quickly down so you won't have to stare at the train wreck too long!

Eeeks!  At least the blue was easy to clean up and didn't stain my cuticles.  Gotta love that!

Hare Polish Flight Of The Flamingos Swatch And Review

Purchased

Wow, I just realized that Labor day is right around the corner!  Summer is coming to an end, and fall will soon officially be here.  Living in SoCal, fall doesn't really exist here so I don't get as excited about it as I did when I lived on east coast.  Fall here feels more like an extension of summer with the evenings getting a little more cooler than usual.  I really miss east coast fall, like watching the leaves change color, the crispness of the air, and the anticipated change of wardrobe.  What do you look forward to in the fall?

What, you want another Hare Polish?  Alright, alright, I have one more for you.  This one is Flight Of The Flamingos, a nude based crelly with gold and matte pink hex and square glitters.  Once again I didn't have any similar cream base to use as undies so I used FotF alone and achieved opacity with only three coats.  No clumping of the glitters and the formula was easily workable.  It's a bit topcoat thirsty - here I used a layer of Essence Gel Look Nails and NYC GCS but there was still some texture after the two layers of topcoat once it was dry.

On camera, there's still a little VNL, but IRL it appears opaque.  I like that this is a nude based glitter which makes it easily work appropriate.  I wore it for a meeting and didn't feel like my nails were screaming for attention.  Marvelously, there were still pops of pink and glints of gold when the light hit it the right way.  It's like having a little secret but on my nails.  I wasn't expecting to like this color as much as I did, but I think it may be one of my favorite from this collection.  Of the Hares that I've shown you from this collection, which one is your favorite?

Adore Nail Polish In True Love And My Happily Ever After Swatch And Review

Ever wonder what nails you'll have on your wedding day?  Do you go neutral, french tip, white, colored, or nail art?  As for myself, I did boring ole french tip professionally.  I wasn't into nail polish at the time, but if I could do it over again, I would probably do something completely different.  One option is Adore Nail Polish, created by Michelle, made especially for a girl's special day.  She offers a wide range of colors packaged in an elegant bottle.  I have two shades to show you today.

First is True Love, described as a "satin bright pink."  I found it to be a fuchsia pink with silver shimmer that applied beautifully in nearly one coat.  I did two for the camera and would probably do two if it was my important day to ensure opacity and durability.  I was worried that it might show some brush strokes but the strokes faded away once the polish dried.  This is finished with a layer of NYC GCS.

Next I have My Happily Ever After, described as a "matte dark purple."  I consider this more of an orchid purple cream with underlying pink tones.  Once again the formula was smooth and buttery and applied in nearly one coat. I used two coats and found that it self leveled fairly well.  It dried to a satin finish and not quite matte, and I finished this with a layer of NYC GCS to add shine.

Overall I was really impressed with the polishes I tried.  The formulas were both excellent and nearly on par with some of the higher end polishes that I've used.  With the highly pigmented opacity, I think these would work really well for nail art or for stamping.  From a bridal perspective, I think the colors would be beautiful for any girl's wedding day and would provide a long lasting memento of her special day.  With wedding themed nail polish names, I think Adore polish would make wonderful wedding gifts as well.  I really like Michelle's concept and hope to see her vision expand.  You can help her by voting for her get commercial time during the Superbowl by clicking this link:

Would you wear any of these shades for your wedding day?  Or if you're already married, what nail polish did you wear?

Hare Polish Washed Ashore Swatch And Review

Happy Monday!  Another work week for another paycheck.  One of these days I'll hit the lotto and be able to stay home all day with a nanny and paint my nails all day long.  A girl can dream, can't she?  On a good note, I did manage to sell some of my Evilbay listings and only had to relist about half of them.  Crossing my fingers that the items all arrive safely to their buyers and that the relists sell!

Are you ladies tired of Hare Polish yet?  I have another from the newest collection, and this one is called Washed Ashore.  It's a delicate looking pink leaning nude jelly base jamed with iridescent and white hex and square glitters.  It's reminiscent of last year's Illuminated Life collection but in a more neutral shade.  I used four coats in these pics and had no problem with clumping or dragging.  This is finished with Essence Gel Look Nails and NYC GCS.

Washed Ashore makes for a great palette cleanser after a summer of bright neon shades.  It's appropriate for work too, which is good for me because I have a lot of meetings this week.  I probably could have layered this over a base color, but I have a severe deficit of nude colored polishes in my collection.

Oh, and scroll quickly down.... I did some stamping and had a bit of a fail when I smeared it with topcoat.  With my longer nails, I have trouble getting a full plate to stamp.  I gotta practice somehow!

You gotta give me credit for trying!  :)

Hare Polish Dancing Bird Of Paradise Swatch And Review

Purchased

Have I mentioned that I'm a Food Network junkie?  I think I watched three hours of Food Network tonight while catching up on some bills and internet time.  Aside from triple D, I caught a couple new shows such as Cutthroat Kitchen.  I like that they're exploring new show formats, but the two new series I saw didn't really work for me.  I'll stick to my Top Chef and Chopped.  Now if only I could only figure out how to cook!

Are you ready for another new Hare Polish?  Today I have for you Dancing Bird Of Paradise, a jelly glitter with a hot pink base.  From my last Hare Polish review, I realized that these may be better layered over a colored base to minimize overloading on glitters, so for this Hare I used New York Summer Hot Magenta, a hot pink jelly base.  This was fairly opaque for a jelly, and I used two thin easy coats for these pics with no topcoat.  There's still some visible sheerness but this will be covered up later with the Hare.

Now for the star of the show, Dancing Bird Of Paradise.  Did I mention how I love Nikole's play on words and combining two phrases into one name?  DBoP is a pink jelly based glitter polish showcasing different sizes and shapes of matte pink glitters and mini gold hex glitters.  I love the giant hex glitters and had no trouble getting them out of the bottle.  No clumping of the glitters here either, unlike the last Hare - maybe because there aren't as many matte glitters, and because I didn't use as many coats. I finished this with layer of Essence Gel Look Nails and NYC GCS.

I love how this turned out!  By using New York Summer Hot Magenta I didn't sacrifice depth but managed to get lots of color in the base.  The pretty pink is perfect for summer and the gold and white glitters really play well off the hot pink.  I don't quite see the "Dancing Bird Of Paradise" but I can see a dancing pink flamingo when I look at this polish.  This is definitely pink that I plan on wearing again and again.  Is this a pink that you can wear?
