Lumina Lacquer Malificent Swatch And Review

I forgot to mention yesterday that during numerous flight transfers, I inevitably had some nail casualties.  So be forewarned, I had to nubbinize!  I haven't had short nails in a long while, and although my dexterity has improved, my nails look awkwardly short.  I'll get use to it!  The only problem with squares/squovals is the frequent corner chips.  Hopefully I can get some length before that happens.

While on vacay, I managed to squeeze a little bit of time to scroll through my Instagram feed, and came upon some swatches from Lumina Lacquer.  I instantly fell in love with Malificent, a blurple holographic glitter sister to Digital Nails Supernova.  I love the uniqueness of these holographic glitters because they're so fascinating to watch when exposed to light - it's like a million little sparks of rainbow exploding in all directions.  The glitters are suspended in a clear base that I found highly viscous during application, making it difficult for me to maintain a small cuticle gap.  I used two thin coats followed by a thicker third coat to achieve opacity.  It dries to a gritty finish, so I recommend a topcoat followed by another quick dry topcoat for a smooth and shiny finish.

The first two pics are in the light tent to show the color, and the following are under direct light so you can see Malificent in its glory.

Me likey those pretty sparkles!!  A-hem, sorry, I must have slipped back to LO talk.  I love the shade of this beauty, and I'm becoming a fast fan of those large holographic glitters.  I think I may have to stalk those polishes if they come in other colors.  A green would be fabulous!  Overall, I'm really happy that I found Lumina Lacquers, it seems that this line has a lot of different finishes that are worth exploring.  Make sure you stop by the storefront to see what she has to offer.

I Love Nail Polish Princeton Swatch And Review

Happy Thursday!  I'm excited for this week to end, starting with having Friday off and then celebrating my birthday on Saturday.  I'm at the point in my life where I don't like aging another year, but it's always nice to be showered with special attention.  I'm hoping to get some much needed time alone to take care of some errands and some good ole shopping.  Hooray!

I've been lax in swatching the remainder of my I Love Nail Polish from the Spring 2014 collection, and with the summer collection available for pre-order, I realized I'd better get to work!  I was enthralled with Princeton when I first saw that it was a mint colored holo, a color that's been elusive to me within the holographic family.  It's a true mint too, and doesn't lean too blue or green.  Formula was a touch sticky, but possibly that's due to the fact that it was sitting in my drawer for a while.  I used three thin coats here for full opacity, and topped with a layer of topcoat.

The holo effect on this isn't overwhelming, but it's a gentle rainbow that gives a flare of color whenever in the right lighting.  Indoors, the mint shade is soothing to the eye and is flattering to my skintone.  I don't think I could ever tire of mint, an ever popular color, possibly due to its versatility amongst all skintones.  This fills the mint holo void in my collection nicely.  Which mint holo do you have in your collection?

Enchanted Polish April 2014 Swatch And Review

Howdy all!  Are you enjoying your week so far?  I'm hoping this week will blow by fast.  To pass the time, I'm in the need of retail therapy, although I'm a day late for the Friends and Family sales that finished on Monday via Saks and Tory Burch.  Go figure I'd want a pair of TB shoes once the sale is already over.  A good hint to savvy shoppers - make friends with a Nordstrom sales associate so that you can get inside scoops on sale inventory and special deals.  I'm hoping my Nordys SA will come through for me and be able to pricematch the FnF sale despite being a day late!

April is coming to an end(already!) and I haven't had a chance to wear Enchanted Polish's monthly namesake polish.  This particular month's shade is a gorgeous dusty periwinkle blue holo that is completely fitting of the season.  I thought it was going to be really sheer after the first coat, but the characteristic buttery smooth Enchanted formula kicked in during the second coat and I was able to get complete coverage.  No issues with streaking or balding of course, and I used no topcoat in these pics.

I always have a difficult time capturing light colored holo flares when taking pics indoors, but hopefully you can see how prominent they are.  I'm sure they'll glow in sunlight and I'll be staring at them while driving.  I think the shade is very unique as well, it's not often I see a periwinkle blue holo, versus the standard aqua, teal blue, or sky blue holo.  I'm glad that Enchanted is finally moving towards presaling these darlings and making it much more accessible to polish enthusiasts.  For now, I'm content to adding a new Enchanted once a month - it seems more budget friendly to me in that I don't have to feel the need to buy up a collection from another line.  Instead I only have to buy a new Enchanted once a month and be confident that it won't already be a dupe in my collection.  Is there a line of holos that you obsessively collect?

Pahlish Moats And Boats And Waterfalls Swatch And Review

Yay for TGIF!  I'm thinking I want to treat myself to a spa day, and maybe this weekend will be the perfect opportunity.  I'd love to get a nice massage and body scrub.  When you want to pamper yourself, what do you do as a treat?

I've been craving a deep saturated jelly loaded with glitter, and what better polish to satisfy me but Pahlish Moats And Boats And Waterfalls.  With a name like that, I expect something with aqua undertones and this definitely delivers.  The base is a dark sea green with a wonderful squishy jelly quality that envelopes a beautiful medley of blue, green, and holographic purple hex glitters.  The formula consistency was typical of a jelly polish, slightly thick but manageable, and applied with no streaking or stacking.  I did have some trouble getting the brush to maneuver the polish accurately toward the cuticle area, but a little cleanup goes a long way.  It was pigmented enough to provide enough coverage after two coats, but with my longer nails I do an extra coat for good measure.  It dries to a matte finish so topcoat is needed for extra shine.

I think the purple holographic glitters add a touch of magic to an already delightfully beautiful polish.  The ratio of glitter is perfect and three coats allows for plenty of depth.  This polish gives off tons of sparkle while not looking like a glitter bomb from afar, which is perfect for me when it comes to the work environment.  Pahlish never fails to disappoint, my only regret is that I can't keep up with all the new releases.  I saw some new ones get released recently that have me positively drooling.  A girl could weep when it comes to breathtaking new releases - how can anyone keep up with it all?

Jade Vermelho Surreal Swatch And Review

Hello dears!  I've been obsessing about holographic accessories lately, especially shoes, but it seems like everything I find is long sold out in my size.  Luckily, I found a holographic wallet on sale yesterday and ordered it.  I figure a wallet is better than shoes anyway, I can use it everyday and not have to worry about it matching my outfit.  It'll be the perfect bling to go with my nails too!

Speaking of holographic finishes, when I was looking for a red holo I didn't have far to look.  Jade makes the best holos for an amazing low price, and is accessible on most nail e-tailers.  I found mine on Color4Nails with reasonable and fast shipping. Vermelho Surreal is an orange based red that leans rust colored in certain lights.  It's not what I would call the perfect red shade, but it's a lovely color with lots of linear holo rainbows.  This applied smoothly and easily with a jelly like consistency, and I used three coats for good measure.  No topcoat shown here, with the first pic in the light tent, the rest under direct light.

I love holos that have jelly bases because I feel that it really allows the holo particles to shine through.  This red reminded me a lot of Enchanted Polish November 2013, but for more than half the price.  If you missed out on that elusive shade, you can easily find Vermelho Surreal and consider your search over.  IMO, it might even be a better version of red holo because the holo flair is a touch stronger than November 2013.  As for myself, I'm now looking for a red holo that's more blue based... any recommendations?

Different Dimensions Orion Nebula Swatch And Review

Have you ever obsessed over something that was out of stock?  What am I talking about, if you're a female, then yes you have.  Currently I'm obsessing over a pair of shoes that I saw on instagram and that are currently out of stock online... I'm waiting for the first minute the store is open to call and ask if they can do a sku search for the item.  Hopefully they'll have it available for order!  What's the last thing you obsessed about that was possibly unattainable?

I've been wanting to try a circle glitter jelly ender since I first discovered swatches of them and I finally took the plunge with Different Dimensions version called Orion Nebula.  It's got a black jelly base and fuchsia circles in various sizes.  The base is sheer and the circles are few, and I needed for coats until I was satisfied with opacity. I turned the bottle upside down between costs so I could grab more glitters on the brush but I still had to fish for the larger circle glitters.  When I did manage to get one, of course it had to be one that had another clinging onto it and stacked upon the nail.  I finished with topcoat to add shine.

I noticed that I had quite a bit of bubbling, and I chalked it up to the me agitating the bottle too much to get those elusive large circles.  The bubbling is worth it though, look at that beautiful holo effect on those circles!  I like the overall spacey effect but I wish there were more of those holo circles.  Have you tried circle glitter jelly polishes before?

Enchanted Polish Presto Magic Swatch And Review

TGIF!  I have the day off and I plan on enjoying it as much as I can.  Hopefully this time around we'll make it down to the OC, and if all goes as planned, I'll pop into the nail supply and see if there are any new collections.  I've got to be selective with any choices I make though, because I'm running out of storage space for new pretties!

I'm going to keep in theme with dazzling polishes for the new year, and this next one is Enchanted Polish Presto Magic, a deep midnight blue linear holographic that deliciously throws rainbows left and right.  Application was once again impressive with smooth consistency that flowed onto the nail with no streaking or patchiness.  I might have been able to get away with one coat but I used two here for depth of color.  No topcoat in these pics.

I think this is the perfect winter blue because it reminds me of silent winter nights, with stars twinkling in the sky and casting a rainbow luminescence.   I've always hankered for a OPI DS Glamour polish and after using Presto Magic, I think I've squashed that lemming because I found something better.   Have you found your DS Glamour or similar?

Happy New Years! Wet N Wild Blackmail With KBShimmer Toast-ess With The Mostest

Purchased

Happy New Years my dears!!  Kick 2013 to the curb and let's bring in 2014 with a glittery bang!

I started with an oldie to represent the past - Wet N Wild Blackmail.  Yeah, I'm bringing it back old school.  Look at the New! sticker on that cap.  I wanted a black base with some microglitter, preferably gold, but couldn't find one and settled on this which has multicolored microglitter.  I used two fairly easy coats, no small feat considering the layer of dust on this bottle!  This is finished with topcoat(tip shrinkage, what!).

Next, to obliterate the old(yeah, I'm looking at you 2013), I used a New Year's worthy glitter topper by KBShimmer, Toast-ess With The Mostest.  This gorgeous glitter topper is jammed with circles of all sizes in pink, holographic silver, and gold.  Yum yum yum.  One coat was enough to cover the nail with a sufficient amount of glitter but I artfully placed a couple extra circles to balance it out.  This is finished with a layer of Gelous and topcoat(no skimping here!).

I can never get enough circle glitter, and this particular beauty hits that out of the park.  I toyed with the idea of layering over a sheer black jelly to make a sandwich, but I decided against it to maintain that sparkle.   Toast-ess is a really versatile glitter and I definitely plan on getting more use out of this in the future.  In the meantime, I plan on taking a hint and making sure that I do some toasting when the clock hits midnight!  Are you ready to bring in the new year?  What plans or resolutions have you made?
