Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie 2.0 Swatch And Review

Purchased

Boy am I exhausted!  I spent the entire day out in the field and was in and out of the car all day long in the heat.  I don't look forward to days like that because of the driving and the office visits, but it's nice to get out of the office once in a while.

I'm going to keep this post short and sweet.  This is Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie 2.0, a gorgeous bronzey gold shimmer with flecks of silver.  It was smooth and easy to apply with a slightly liquid-y consistency, and was nearly opaque in one coat.  I used two in these pics with no topcoat.

Scrangie's inspiration was a colorful oil slick, and I must say, Ji nearly hit it on the nail(no pun intended).  I really enjoy this color and think it's perfect for transitioning into fall.  There's also a delicate sparkle that was really difficult to capture on camera but is obvious in real life.  I've been limiting my RBL purchases but this was a must have from that collection.  Did you pick any up from that release?

Vacation Polish Haul!!!

I'm baaaaaaack!!   I hope I was able to keep you entertained while I was away on vacation.  I had to scrounge for some swatches and had the very appreciated help of some wonderful guest bloggers to get me through the trip.

I did manage to get some shopping done, albeit not as much as I wanted to.  I didn't get to really explore the outlets or get to the mall - I was too busy trying to catch up with old friends and letting LO meet everyone.  In terms of nail polish, I was only able to go to Wal-mart and Big Lots - nothing really exciting but I very rarely get to go to those stores when I'm in LA.  Here are my scores from those two stores:

Walmart Kiss Nail Art and Polishes

Walmart Maybelline and Hard Candy
Big Lots Colormates - that purple has iridescent shimmer!

I also picked up Duri Rejuvacote but then ended up giving it to one of my BFFs because she needed something for the peelies.  I'll have to find it another time.  My other BFF was very sweet to pick me up some Bettinas while in Puerto Rico and a Lisa Watier while in Montreal.  I wish I knew about Bettina when I was in Puerto Rico - I got married there five years ago and this BFF got married there three years ago.  Each time I walked by the display and thought, meh, I already have those colors.  I wish I knew how great they were for watermarbling at the time!

Bettina and Lisa Watier

Once I got home, my nail mail was all waiting for me.  First is my order from Rescue Beauty Lounge's Blogger 2.0 collection:

Rescue Beauty Lounge Blogger 2.0

And then a new polish from Pipe Dreams, and Lemony Flutter.  I hope it's as good as everyone says it is for the cuticles!

Pipe Dreams and Lush Lemony FLutter

And then my swap items from a sweet fellow TPFer that I found on MUA.  For some reason I recently decided I needed all the polishes from the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection, and she happen to have some other polishes that I wanted to check out.  My OPI Pirates collection is now complete!

That's it for tonight!  I would do a swatch but I still haven't unpacked my bags.  I've taken off my nail polish - I was wearing Enchanted Polish Beautiful Rule Breaking Moth for the last half of the vacation and during the wedding.  It lasted really well for the entire time I wore it up until today while I was at work, in which two fairly large chips ensued.  If I have any energy left, I'll try to do my nails rather than going nekkid.  Heaven forbid!!

Rescue Beauty Lounge Chinoise Swatch And Review

I've only been back to work one day this week and already I'm looking forward to the holiday weekend.  Are you?  I was hoping to catch the start of the Nordstrom semi-annual designer sale tonight but it's not posted yet. It'll probably go live while I'm sleeping.

I felt like I needed a strong pop of color to help bring in summer, so I went with Rescue Beauty Lounge Chinoise today.  This is a bright orange based red crelly that applied like a dream.  I could have probably gotten away with one coat but used two for the pics.  The brush was easy to control and I got clean brushstrokes with very little mess.  I finished with a topcoat of Poshe for additional shine.

I'm so happy to have received this color, it's not a color I have in my collection and a color that I've never worn on myself before.  I really like how it looks against my skintone so I can see myself adding more of this color to my collection.  Luckily I picked this up in a forum swap box exchange.  I love participating in those!  It's the opportunity of finding an unloved polish of mine a new home in exchange for a new shade.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Cuprum Swatch And Review

Happy Humpday everybody!  I hope you're enjoying your week.  If not, at least it's halfway over!  As I'm waiting for my chipped nail to grow out,  I have a swatch from one of my back logs to show you.  This is Rescue Beauty Lounge's Cuprum from the Fan Collection.  This was created by a member on a forum that I'm on, and I remember being so excited for her when I found out her vision had been selected.  This is a stunning metallic with copper microglitter mixed throughout, and the formula was fabulous as expected for a RBL polish.  I used two easy coats with minimal streaking and brush strokes, and finished with a layer of Poshe.

It's difficult to see the copper but it's definitely there and much easier to see IRL. Overall I'm really pleased with this color and in love with the Fan Collection in general.  Hopefully I'll get a chance to post the rest of those for you in the future once my nubbin grows back.  What would your polish look like if you had a chance to create your own color?

Polish Days Nature - Sunrise Clouds with Rescue Beauty Lounge

I had a lovely day today, LO and I started it off with a movie at the theater.  Not the typical movie I would want to see, but Warm Bodies actually turned out to be enjoyable and fun.  I would totally recommend it to anyone looking for a lighthearted and funny movie.  My in-laws just arrived this afternoon, so I have the week to look forward to spend with them.  Yay.

When I found out what the next Polish Days theme was, Nature, I knew I was going to have trouble coming up with a good mani.  I'm not super talented with nail art, and the theme itself was a bit of challenge.  I didn't want to do something too easy like white glitter for snow or an underwater themed blue nail polish, so I came up with an idea of lightning, but after trying it out with a sponge gradient, I totally failed. I couldn't get my art brush to make thin enough lines for the actual lightning.  So instead I went easy and did a simple cloud manicure.

I envisioned this cloud manicure as that moment during sunrise when the sky is dark to the west and you can see the progressive lightening of the sky towards the east into shades of purple and blue.  I started with a dark blue base of Rescue Beauty Lounge Under The Stars, which I thought aptly named for this mani.  I then used a a middle layer of Rescue Beauty Mismas, a medium blue based purple creme.  I used Rescue Beauty Lounge Insouciant for the last cloud layer, and then topped it all off with a iridescent glitter by NYX to represent the stars that would still be in the sky. I added a layer of SH Insta Dri to quicken the drying time.  If you're wondering why I used RBLs for this mani, it's because they're the most organized polishes in my helmer and I know that they're all nearly one coat opaque polishes so they'd be ideal for layering light colors over dark.

All in all I don't think it turned out too bad, but I'm not sure if it's really a "nature" themed mani, although I think sunrises and sunsets are nature at it's full glory.  What I liked best is that I didn't have any cleanup!  Imagine that, a nail art mani with no clean up.  LOL.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Ghost Swatch and Review

I think from now on I'm going to start each of my posts with a quick comment about something food related.  For example, last night I took my parents to a popular Cuban restaurant that I've had good dinners at previously.  Unfortunately last night was a huge fail - the food came out burnt and we had to send back two orders which I never did before and it made me feel embarrassed for myself and for the restaurant.  I felt doubly bad because my parents never had Cuban and this was definitely not how I want them to remember it as.  It was so bad I feel like I need to make a Yelp post!  Oh, and side tangent... I like the word embarrass.  It makes me think of bare *sses, which is embarrassing, I suppose.

I have another early morning tomorrow at work so tonight will be a quick one.  This is Ghost from Rescue Beauty Lounge's GOMM collection.  It's a beautiful burnished golden brown that I can see myself using over and over again when I want something glammy but subdued in a neutral nude sort of way.  Formula was stellar and could probably be done with one coat but I used two out of habit.  No topcoat in these pictures because this one dried fairly shiney on its own.

Gorgeous color, isn't it?  If you like it be sure to pick it up at the RBL website before it sells out, as this is LE and once it's gone, it's gone!  If you'd like to see Ghost in combination with another GOMM color, Faraway, please check out my Polish Days post!

Polish Days Something New: Saran Wrap with Rescue Beauty Lounge GOMM

I'm the first to admit that I'm a terrible artist so as a warning, so never expect much from me when it comes to nail art.  I'll dabble here and there but I can never get any of the techniques right. I'm envious of the girls that do it well and I'm happy to drool over their work.  Since this month's Polish Day theme is Something New, I'd figured I'd do something easy in the nail art realm and that's a Saran Wrap manicure.  I used two polishes from the Rescue Beauty Lounge GOMM collection, Faraway as my base and Ghost for the Saran Wrap effect.

I love how these two colors compliment each other.  Both colors were well pigmented and I had no trouble with streaking or application during the process.  I used two coats of Faraway followed with a layer of Poshe before applying Ghost and doing the Saran Wrap effect.  I learned the hard way though - my right hand I did first and it's a mess because I didn't do each nail individually.  Instead, I painted Ghost on all of them and then tried to do the Saran Wrap effect at the same time but despite working quickly the polish dried too much and the effect majorly failed.

Overall, not a bad mani for my first nail art post here on the blog!  I had fun doing this and I thank Polly and Polish Days for motivating me to try something new.

Rescue Beauty Lounge BiB4 Aqua Lily, Insouciant, Recycle, and Piu Mosso

If you've been hiding under a rock, then you wouldn't know about the Rescue Beauty Lounge Bring it Back 4 polishes available for pre-order until Saturday night.  This time around Opaque Nude, Starfish Patrick, Insouciant, Aqua Lily, Recycle, and Piu Mosso will be available.  They're all $20 each and the pre-order is accessible through the email sent to all those on the mailing list.  To help make your decision easier(or more difficult) I've got a few swatches of the polishes.

Insouciant was my first ever RBL, sent to me by a lovely member of the nail forum that I post on regularly through a gift exchange.  Looking back, I had no idea about the quality of RBLs or the uniqueness of this color until much later after Insouciant became out of stock.  It's a lovely taupey lavender shade with blue and pink shimmer.  Yes, blue AND pink shimmer, two colors!  My bottle was a bit thick but a little thinner would probably help.  Otherwise, application was a dream, consistent with all of RBLs formula.  This is shown with two coats and a layer of Poshe.

Aqua Lily was part of the fan created line of colors and was immensely popular and sold out quickly.  It's a stunning aqua shade with a hidden pink shimmer and applied like a dream.  This is two coats with one layer of Poshe.

Recycle is a fantastic green cream.  I can't believe I haven't used it until now!  If you don't have this one, you have to get it.  It did apply a bit streaky on the first coat but it evened out after the 2nd.  This is shown with one layer of Poshe.

My last swatch is Piu Mosso, a rich and pigmented navy with copper shimmer.  I probably could have used one layer but I did two out of habit and followed with Poshe.

Whichever polishes you choose, I'm sure you won't go wrong.  I myself won't be ordering any of the BiB unless my secret Santa has it on her list.  It'll be a great time to catch the remaining GOMM polishes as well.  Are you going to put an order in?
