China Glaze Blue Sparrow Neon Over Wet n' Wild Listening To The Reed Swatch And Review

Hooray for Saturday!  I hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend.  My brother is in town and we're going to be preparing for LO's party on Sunday.  Aside from getting provisions, one of his must go to stops while in LA is Koreatown and we'll be going there for lunch.  He loves super fishy foods, and he's looking forward to rice with fish roe on top.  I enjoy ikura sushi, so I'm hoping it's something along of the lines of that.  I hope, anyway.

Wet n' Wild released a new collection for the Wild Shine line, called Pop Art Craze.  I found the collection at my itty bitty local Walgreens and picked up all of them in July for 69 cents each.  They're back to 99 cents, but still a steal for some bright summer colors.  Tonight I have the bright pool blue cream called Listening To The Reed.  Formula was pretty decent - slightly thick and fairly opaque after one coat.  Two coats was plenty and it self leveled well.  My only complaint is that the brush was clumsy - it picks up a lot of polish because the wand is long and the brush is thick resulting in a lot of pooling if you don't clean the brush off well on the rim.  Fortunately, it dries to a wonderfully glossy finish on its own.  No topcoat in these pics.

As I was swatching this, I noticed that I had a bottle of China Glaze Blue Sparrow Neon sitting nearby and I thought it would be the perfect base color for it.  I used two coats of Blue Sparrow over Listening To The Reed.  Blue Sparrow has a sheer blue base with sparkling blue microglitter.  Formula was slightly watery but I had no problems with pooling or application.  It dried to a satin finish so I used a layer of Poshe for shine.

This layering combination was unexpected yet perfect considering the two colors worked well together.  The microglitter adds depth and sparkle to an otherwise plain mani.  I am really enjoying all the bright neon colors this summer and the Pop Craze collection is a great affordable option that is ideal for layering.  Have you seen these near you yet?
