Ethereal Lacquer Poor Unfortunate Souls Swatch And Review

Yay, it's Sunday!  I love Sundays because that means I get to relax before going into the work week.  Saturday I had to work, which usually means it's hard for me to unwind afterwards.  Sundays I try to not have any plans so that I can focus on getting my errands done and to spend time with LO.  The best part is that I get to sleep in.  I looooove that!

Ethereal Lacquer is a indie brand that I found through Instagram.  True to its name, the polishes all have a ethereal and fantastical quality to them that I love.  I love the vision behind all of these, and if you follow Ethereal Lacquer on Instagram, you can see what amazing pictures inspire the colors.  One of the creations that I was drawn to is Poor Unfortunate Souls, a sheer black jelly base crammed full with pink microglitter, orange, pink, purple, blue, and chartreuse hex glitters, and a smattering of multi sized circle glitters.  It's a orange and pink leaning glitter bomb for sure, and the microglitters pick up a lot of light and causes crazy sparkle.  I used three coats here and found the formula thick but workable.  The glitters did stick to each other a little bit and didn't spread out as much as I would have liked, but it's understandable considering how dense the polish is with glitter.  I finished with a layer of topcoat to smooth down the glitters.

With all this unashamed sparkle going on, I had to see what would happen if I matted it out.

Matting out the glitter makes the glitter a little more easy to take in at once, and you can see the individual colors a better.  I really love the teal and chartreuse glitters the most - how often do you ever see chartreuse??  Love!!  This polish works really well for the current season, and I think it's great for Halloween too.  This is just a taste of the arsenal of polishes that Ethereal Lacquer has created - there are gorgeous glitters, duochrome holos, and contrasting shimmers to be explored.  Maybe I can find more chartreuse glitters in there!

  1. I love this, it's gorgeous! Plus, I love the name. It makes me think of The Little Mermaid.

    1. I was thinking the same thing!! I think the colors are really fitting for the song/scene from the movie.
