Essie Encrusted Treasures On A Silver Platter Swatch And Review

Purchased

How is your first weekend of the year going ladies?  I'm still trying to find ways to entertain my parents, and today is their last day in town.  Maybe we'll go to the beach, maybe we'll go to the Getty, or maybe we'll just go to the park and play with LO.  What are you planning on doing today?

I'm still trying to bring on the bling for you and today I have an Essie from their limited edition collection of textures called Encrusted Treasures.  It's aptly called on a Silver Platter because of its strong metallic pale gold microflakes in a clear base.  To accent there are some holographic blue hex glitters added into the mix.  In some lights this polish appears platinum, shifts to a pearlescent silver, and then to a shimmering gold. Regardless, it's one helluva sparkly polish. You can probably layer this over other colors but I chose to wear it alone to maximize its effect.  I used four thin coats here, with no difficulty during application such as balding or clumping.  IRL I could have probably used two to three coats without VNL.  It dried surprisingly quickly on its own but I added a layer of topcoat to increase duration of wear.

I haven't seen too much of the Encrusted Treasure collection which is unfortunate.  I think this is a glamorous and unique color along with the rest of the colors in the collection.  Have any of them caught your eye or do they not appeal to you?

  1. I really like this! The shimmer and the blue glitter make for a beautiful combination. I have yet to see it in person but I would definitely like to. I hope you have a good last day with your parents! I have plans to go to IKEA with my mom so I can finally get my white Helmer. I'm desperately in need of one. I'm tired of using little shoe boxes for my polishes. I'm really excited.

    1. woot woot! yay for a helmer! did you pick it up? I loved getting my helmer and organizing my polishes... so much fun! You may end up with having extra space after everything gets put inside, but don't hurry to fill it up - that's what I regret. I wish I had better willpower and could edit my polish purchases better.

    2. I still haven't gotten it! We were supposed to go but plans got changed. The last time we drove to Burbank, which is about 30 minutes away, only to find out that they had no white in stock and just red. Because of that my mom almost feels like ordering it and having it shipped, although it's about $25 to do that. Personally, I'd rather go to the store. I also really like the Alex storage unit but I figure for the price of one of those I can get two Helmers. It's a belated Christmas present and I can't wait to get it. I'm trying to be more careful about what polishes I purchase. I try not to get a color solely because it's pretty. Hopefully I won't go too crazy this year!

    3. That's frustrating! That's happened to me before with Ikea. I like the idea of two Helmers, are you going to makea desk with them? I've seen cool photos of that online. I have one red one and another ten drawer wood cabinet that holds double the amount. I like my wood one better because the drawers are sturdier and I can pull them it without fear of it falling out. I got it off another website after much research. ... If I remember I'll let you know. Or maybe I'm due for a stash update?

  2. Holy moly this looks SO GORGEOUS on you! Wow! I've been really attracted to photos of this polish, I love it's kind of chaotic bling, but the gold is so strong in it I'm afraid it would look like death on my pinkage. Doesn't keep me from enjoying these photos though! I'm glad to hear application of this one wasn't problematic for you, apparently it has been for others.

There's a bright blue texture in this collection, I think it's called Lots of Luxe, that I thought was pretty in the photos that I've seen, but I recently picked up Zoya Sunshine so I'm going to see how that one works. In the meantime I'm going to download one of your awesome photos of Encrusted Treasures to add to the nail polish slideshow I use as my screensaver! (Confession: I already have many of your photos in that slideshow, so I get to see quite a bit of your pretty kitty claws here when my screensaver kicks in....)

    1. aw, shucks! your flattery will get your everywhere my dear! I think you should really try this polish out - the pearl, silver duochrome nature makes me think that it would work on anyone. Oftentimes I wear a polish now without regard to my skin tone - to me, the uglier the better! LOL.

I saw that blue texture and I was interested in picking it up, but I held off. Your right, there are a lot of potential dupes for this so maybe Zoya Sunshine will be a good replacement. I think the formula is better than the Essie as well.

I love the idea of a nail polish wallpaper/screensaver. That's genius! Wish I had thought of that.... I'm so flattered that you used some of my pics! Little ole me! Wow! Thank you!
