Nerdlacquer Megaera Swatch And Review

If you haven't heard, Nerdlacquer made a comeback this past week and released a new collection comprised of three polishes based on Eumenides, aka The Furies.  She describes why this was her inspiration on her last Google+ entry, and gives insight into why she's been missing the past few months.  She's been through a tough couple years and I can only be grateful that's she made a comeback at all.  No one can argue against her disappearance - we all have our hard times and need privacy to recoup sometimes.

I, oddly enough, considering that I'm never around my phone or read texts or answer phone calls the moment they come through, glanced at my phone a few minutes after her post was published and after reading it, realized that her shop was fully stocked.  I jumped over as soon as I could and managed to snag all three of the new releases.  The polish angels were shining down at me!  The first one I have for you is my favorite, called Megaera, which is listed in Wikipedia as "the cause of jealousy and envy, and punishes people who commit crimes, especially marital infidelity."  Jealousy and envy makes me think of green, and indeed this polish is a soft sage green metallic shimmer with varying shades of yellow and green microglitter and a sprinkling of larger green square glitter.  I used three coats for this mani and had no trouble with application at all, despite the complex formula of microglitter and squares.  I finished with a layer of NYC GCS to smooth it down and add shine.

While applying this polish I was reminded how amazing it is to apply and then see a Nerdlacquer polish on the nail.  Amanda has a genius formula of never overpowering the polish with too many glitters but still managing to add lots of depth and color to the base.  I'm looking forward to trying out the other two polishes that were released with this collection, and I hope to have those up for you soon!  Did you manage to score anything during her last restock?  Are you going broke like I am with all the amazing winter collections that have been released these past few weeks?

  1. I wondered whether you'd jumped on those NerdLacquers! I so agree re the awe you experience when applying one of Amanda's creations, I think it's one of her great formulary gifts to create a complex polish with many components that goes on so beautifully, so easily.

My wallet all but imploded when I bought a passel of Cirque polishes after Thanksgiving. All the new collections are killing me!

    1. LOL... my wallet is hurting badly too. All these amazing releases are too much for me to handle, I've given up all pretense of willpower and will have to deal with it when I see the CC bill at the end of the month. Ack!

I am feening to try those other two but I haven't found a spare moment to enjoy them yet. Hopefully soon!! BTW, loved all those Cirque posts! That's a brand that I'm still wistfully admiring from afar.

  2. I really love this shade of green! It's pretty. The glitters in the base add something special too. The name of this polish reminds me a lot of Megara from the Disney movie Hercules, even though they are two different things. I actually only own one NerdLacquer, which is Cyance Friction. I got it for such an awesome price on a blog sale.
