KBShimmer Sugar Plum Faerie Swatch And Review

Happy Humpday!  Are you enjoying your week so far? I've been slammed at work(again) but at least with the holidays, my company has been providing holiday lunches and taking us for nice dinners so I guess I can't complain.  I was suppose to have today off from work, but instead I'm going in for a few hours because I'm too OCD to leave work for a day.  Afterwards, I'm going to enjoy a couple hours to myself before picking LO up from daycare.  I don't think I've had two hours to myself in over a year!

To help bring in the holidays, I have KBShimmer Sugar Plum Faerie for you today.  I believe it may be a core polish because it was released last year and it's still available on their website.  I picked this up in a round robin swap hosted by the lovely ladies on TPF and finally found an opportunity to wear it.  It's a dusty plum sheer mostly jelly base, with an assortment of mulitcolored pastel and holographic glitters.  The website says to wear two coats over a basecoat or three coats alone - here I used four coats to achieve opacity and yet it still seems very sheer.  That being the case, it's probably better worn over a base color but I prefer the jelly semi-transparent look so I used it alone.  From afar it looks opaque but on camera under the lights you can see VNL clearly.  I used a layer of Essence Gel Look topcoat to finish.

I love the combination of glitter colors, from the matte purple, pink, and green glitters to the sparkling holographic glitters.  Even though the base is sheer, it helps let the glitters sparkle because it's not covering them up.  If it was more pigmented those glitters would probably get lost.  I like that they're the star of the show and unhindered by the basecolor.  And although the name of the polish is holiday themed, the polish itself can be worn year round and works for spring and summer. Are you slowly getting into the holiday spirit like I am or are you already full swing into the season?

  1. This is gorgeous! I'm surprised at how sheer it is though. I have a bottle of it and though I haven't worn it yet, from the looks of it in the bottle it seems like it would be more opaque. I'll have to check it out for myself when I finally give it a go.
