Digital Nails Colovaria Swatch And Review

Purchased

Happy mid-week humpday!  This has been another busy week for me at work and I'm not seeing an end to the hectic-ness at work any time soon.  I'm wishing I could just crawl into a hole and wait it out but unfortunately I have no choice but to dive in and hope for the best.  Anyone feel like stopping by my work and helping me out?

To help bring a small happy diversion to myself while at work, I thought it would be fun to try a new to me indie brand called Digital Nails.  It's been around for a while but I didn't have a chance to try it out until recently.  Browsing thru the selection was intriguing because there was a fantastic range of finishes and colors, all of which is right up my alley.

To start, I have Colovaria, a thermal changing polish that starts bright fuchsia pink when cool and turns clear when warm.  To be honest, I forgot that it was a thermal changing polish until I started taking photos under the light - the light started to warm up the polish and I was shocked to see the color change right before my eyes.  There's a silvery green flakes that is stays static throughout the entire color changing process and works as a beautiful accent to all of the transitioning colors.  I used four coats here, but probably could have gotten away with only three - I did four because I thought the polish was sheer but I think it's because it started to turn clear while I was painting.  Silly me.  I finished with a layer of topcoat because it dried to a satin finish.

This is what it looks like when cool - pardon the water droplets, I had to work quickly because the light kept turning the color away from fuchsia.

And this is what it looks like when it's warm, which is mostly clear except for the pink tips.

How cool is that polish?  It's like having two polishes in one!  I know that thermals have had increased popularity in the indie polish world and I'm stoked that I finally got to try one out first hand.  I think it's a lot of fun to watch the color change from the cool to warm state, and with the weather being so chilly outside, I'll get to watch it turn quite a lot.  My favorite is the fuchsia color because the shimmer sets it off so beautifully, however because I'm usually indoors where it's warm it'll be mostly clear when I wear it.  That works for me since it'll be a lovely neutral to wear for work.

Have you tried a thermal yet?  What are your thoughts about the color change?  Love it or hate it?

  1. This is a gorgeous polish! I love the color change. I also really love the name of it, especially since right now I'm in the middle of watching all of the Harry Potter movies from beginning to end. Just three more to go! I definitely need to try this brand for myself. I was going to buy one during their Black Friday sale but I never got around to it.
