Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Lava and Firefly

This fall Sally Hansen released a new line called Lustre Shine, a collection that consists of 6 or so colors that have a duochrome effect.  I was at my local Walgreens and found a display so of course I had to pick up the color that everyone was buzzing about - Fire, a pink to copper flashing duochrome.  For full measure I also picked up Firefly because I couldn't resist the the golden green hues I saw in the bottle.

Lava is gorgeous in the bottle however when applied it runs a bit thin and streaky.  To get an opaque finish I had to apply at least three coats and it didn't even out well.  I think it might benefit from a colored basecoat or "undie" as I like to refer to it.   It dries like a foil but the duochrome effect is very strong.  In some lights it looks like a gorgeous pink but then flashes to a copper in others.  Sometimes I can get slight green cast.  Removal was exactly like a foil and required a little work.  Would I recommend this?  For $8.99 I would say yes if you don't already own other duochromes similar to this such as MAC Bad Fairy, Accessorize Pink Spice, or Model's Own Pinky Brown, all of which could be elusive and expensive for us here in the states.  The PoshAholic has a comparison of MAC's Bad Fairy if you're interested.

The other Lustre Shine polish I picked up was Firefly.  Sadly, this was more interesting in the bottle than it was on the nail.  In the bottle it flashes gold to green to coppery pink, a color combination that I couldn't resist.  It didn't compliment my skin tone.  I still have a bottle of Model's Own Golden Green that I haven't cracked yet, and now I'm wondering if that might be complimentary on me and have better flashes of duochrome.  When applied, this also was thin but was opaque at two coats and didn't have a foil finish.  I anticipate that this will be easier to remove than Lava.  In daylight the copper pink flash is more prevalent but overall it looks mostly gold which washes out my skintone.  This polish seems to make people either love or hate it.  What do you think, do you love it or hate it?
