Takko Lacquer Opium Swatch And Review

Purchased

How was your first work day after daylight savings?  My day went by really slowly and I was plumb tired by night and went to bed early.  LO was tuckered out from her first day at daycare, and went to sleep with little fuss.  If I could have her fall asleep like that every night, I'd be golden!  The ladies at the center said she did amazingly well and did not cry at all while there.  She's such a good little girl!   My only gripe is that while the other kids wore shoes or socks, the little imp managed to lose both her shoes and socks at the daycare and went bare foot for most of the day.  Scamp!

When I hear the word opium, I imagine dark and mysterious rooms, with light from a single bulb penetrating weakly through a haze of smoke.  Takko Lacquer created Opium, a color shifting polish that embodies this vision.  Red to gold to green magical color shifting particles shimmer inside a black jelly base, with the red being the most prominent in most lights.  At certain angles the gold and green appear, making me want to continuously hold my fingers out to catch those colors.  I thought the formula was going to be thin and streaky after applying the first coat, but by the second, it was opaque and even.  No topcoat in these pics so that you can see that it dries to a shine on its own, but for my daily wear I later applied topcoat.

Hopefully in the following pics you can see the color shift better.  Warning, weird hand angles ahead!

Le sigh, I love color shifting shades like this, such as the magical Clarins 230 or the newer releases by Ninja Polish.  I wish more polishes had these magical particles and that they came in more colors instead of just red, black, or blue.  Flakies almost have the same color shift but the flakies give it a more broken glittery look instead of the smooth shimmer.  If I can find more shimmer, I would want them all!!
