Dior Minuit Diorific Vernis Swatch And Review

I hope you're well!  How is your week going?  So far my week has been quiet, and I'm grateful for that.  I hope that it continues that way!

I've been feening an oxblood shade of polish and when Dior released its holiday collection, I was a goner.  I could not keep my eyes and mind of Minuit, and when Sephora had it's VIB sale, I bit.   Minuit is a dark oxblood vamp with gold flakes threading throughout.  It comes in one of those fancy ornament shaped bottles that has a surprisingly hefty weight.  The brush is interesting - there's not much of a handle to hold onto other than the small coin shaped top.  The brush is not the standard Dior wide brush but rather a standard brush that didn't have a lot of give when applying the thicker than normal formula.  It could probably use some thinner, but my mind cringes at the thought of adding thinner to a $28 dollar of polish.  I used two not so easy to apply coats here and finished with a layer of topcoat because it dried to a satin finish on its own.  Sorry in advance for the poor clean up job - I'm not use to having to do a lot of clean up but I blame the formula for being difficult to control.

Overall, I love the gold flakes that glint within the oxblood base, but with its high pricetag and not so great formula, I would recommend passing if you're hesitant about the price.  I think there are probably a few dupes out there that will yield equally gorgeous results for a smaller price tag.  I'm thinking LA Girl Rockstar Addict, Cult Nails Iconic, and China Glaze Stroll could be possible dupes.  I have to start learning my lesson - as much as I love Dior Cosmetics, I have to try and stay away from their polishes because of my recent disappointment with their colors and formula.  The last time I was happy with a Dior polish was with Exquis which is unfortunately a long long time ago.  Have you fallen out of love with a high end brand?  *cough*Deborah Lipmann*cough*Rescue Beauty Lounge*cough*

  1. This is a really pretty color but that sucks about the formula. You would hope with a polish that is expensive, you'd get perfect application. This is one of the reasons I'm hesitant to buy from high end brands.

    1. With the higher price, I feel like I need to give it another trial run... Maybe it'll still redeem itself!
