Bettina Disco Hustle Over Obssessive Compulsive Cosmetics Echo Swatch And Review

Tis the season of sales!  I'm dying over here with all the sample sales, Friends and Family sales, and end of season clearances that are starting up. I've really had to cut back on my purchases now that LO is in daycare, and it's really hard for me to resist a sale, especially with the little willpower that I have.  Hopefully I can stay good this season and not get my wallet into trouble.  I missed the Philip Lim sample sale last week, and I'm going to sit on my hands this weekend with the BCBG warehouse sale in full effect.  And H&M's Isabel Marant collaboration gets released this Thursday, oy vey!

Speaking of sales, with my recent haul, I picked up a new to me brand, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.  I've seen this brand around, but I never got around to picking anything up until I found it on sale through Beauty.com.  Being a sucker for teal, I chose Echo, a dark green leaning teal cream.  Formula was good, it applied easily and without streaking.  Two coats was enough for an opaque and smooth finish.  My only complaint is that there's a strong unpleasant smell so I recommend extra ventilation during application.  It dried shiny on its own, so no topcoat in these pics.

Next, I pulled out an untried that I've had forever in my stash, and that's Bettina Hustle from their Disco collection.  This collection when released, was unique with its metallic flakes and color flash.  Hustle is mostly teal, with a really shy purple flash.  I bet if layered over black, it would be a lot more apparent.  It can be used on its own but I chose to use one coat over Echo.  As with my other Bettinas that I've tried before, I had no trouble with application.  This is without topcoat.

I think because I used Hustle over Echo, the purple was a little more apparent than if I had used it alone.  I really liked this layering combo because Echo was too dark on its own, and appeared almost black indoors which I'm never a fan of.  I like my colors obvious in most light, unless it's a blackened shade.  With Hustle layered over, it brightens up the mani considerably and adds a subtle glistening effect that I love.  I'm kicking myself for leaving it as an untried for as long as I did.  My other regret is not being able to find the rest of the Disco collection as they're long discontinued.  I'm going to keep my manicured fingers crossed in hopes that I come across more in a swap or blog sale.  What obscure discontinueds have you been wishing for?
