Misa Trust Fund Swatch And Review with Bonus Verity Glitter Glory

By now my little family and I should have safely landed back in Los Angeles where my in-laws are waiting see us.  They arrived in LA yesterday from NC, and they're looking forward to spending a month out here with us(who are we kidding, they're here to see LO, not us!).  It's a family packed summer with grandparents back to back.  I'm grateful to have all this support - I just wish we lived closer to them!

I wanted to try out a new glitter that I got from Verity, and I felt that it needed a dark base, so the first one I came across in my stash was Misa Trust Fund.  It's a dark green leaning grey cream that was buttery smooth during application.  I used two coats here with no topcoat.  Look at that shine!  I forget how wonderful the formula is for Misa polishes.

You gotta love a color like that... not green, not quite grey.  Next, I wanted to see if this layering combination would work because Verity Glitter Glory has a charcoal almost black sheer base.  It's loaded with larger salmon pink and light pink hex glitters and fuchsia mini gliters.  It has a slightly thick consistency as expected for a glitter polish, and I used one coat over Trust Fund.

Erm... well, I guess it didn't turn out quite like I imagined it would.  It might look better over a black base, or a grey without the green hue.  Glitter Glory isn't pigmented enough to wear alone, so I guess I'll have to keep experimenting to find a good base color.  Any suggestions on a color for this?  Have you ever had any layering fails?

  1. I rather like this! Were you going for something softer? Perhaps over a medium steel blue or a medium charcoal or silver grey or even a light blue grey like China Glaze Pelican Grey, which seems to work with everything I've thrown at it. Something metallic will keep the glitters from being too stark, or float the pink over something warm, a coral or orange or even a medium purple. My two cents. Love that Misa, that stuff is money! Looks awesome on you, too!

    1. You're right! I bet a lighter grey would probably look much better with this glitter. I think I was stuck on the dark charcoal base but it's pretty sheer so it probably wouldn't show up too much on the base. I'll have to try it! I gotta bust out those swatch wheels.
