I Love Nail Polish Music Box Swatch And Review

Ack!  I'm such a procastinator.  I'm just realizing now that I have to keep LO entertained on the plane for at least 3 1/2 hours straight for two legs of our trip. Oy.  How do you keep an energetic toddler entertained on a plane for that long??  I am not looking forward to a crying and bored toddler trapped on a plane!  I'm downloading some cartoons, and I'll bring some books and coloring supplies, but what else?

I have my last straggler from the I Love Nail Polish Spring 2014 collection, and that's a breathtaking cyan blue holo called Music Box.  I think I saved the best for last with this little gem because the color is gorgeous and commands attention.  I was planning on only swatching this but instead did a full mani so I could wear it to work.  The formula was typical ILNP, which is buttery thick, but sheer upon application.  Two coats may have worked but I went for three to ensure full coverage.  Make sure to allow the coats to fully dry in between because I experience a bit of balding which may explain my need for a third coat.  Call me impatient I guess!  I used no topcoat in these pics.

These are in the light tent so you can see the actual color of the lovely light blue.

The holo isn't as super strong as say the Color Clubs, but it's still impressive and actually fitting of this vibrant light blue. It's an eye catching shade and I'm sure I'll be too busy looking at my hands instead of where I'm walking during the day in the sunlight, but isn't that the delicious reason of wearing of holo?  I can't wait!    Have you been wearing a lot of holos now that summer is just around the corner?

I Love Nail Polish Charmingly Purple Swatch And Review

Well, if you forgot that yesterday was April Fool's Day like I did, you would have realized that the GlitterDaze news was actually a joke.  I didn't catch on until I saw a post from one of my favorite readers gave me a heads up and later an Instagram post by GlitterDaze apologizing for the hoax.  Apparently some of the buyers were saying that the joke was made in poor taste, because some they felt pressured into buying the last of the stock when that wasn't really the case.  She is offering refunds in the event you feel that way, but hopefully you'll take the joke in stride and accept that you were able to score some of her polishes for 15% off.  Personally, I'm glad to hear that she's not actually closing down because that was worse news for me!

Today's polish is an exquisite lavender purple holo calling Charmingly Purple by I Love Nail Polish.  It's a straightforward pastel purple with medium strong holo flare, and application was a breeze.  I didn't experience any balding or streaking and the formula was thin and easy to control.  I used three coats here with no topcoat.  Look at that wonderful shine!

Isn't that a charming purple holo?  This is purple shade that I don't have in my arsenal of holos and I'm glad to have picked this one up.  I have to also advise that Barbra is a marvelous owner because she easily corrected a shipping mistake that I made when I entered in the wrong address.  The errant package was getting returned by the time I realized my error and when I notified her, she quickly shipped out a replacement package to me.  Talk about amazing customer service!  I'm definitely a huge fan of her and her polishes, and I can see myself being a loyal follower, especially after that minor fiasco.  Who can deny a brand that goes above and beyond for their customers?

My Ten Friends Clusterfrak Swatch And Review

Happy weekend everyone!  Do you have any plans today?  I'm not sure what we're going to do, but hopefully it will involve lots of good food!  I think the in-laws want to go to the OC and that usually means Vietnamese food, yum.  I also need to get LO's pictures done for our holiday card, although I don't know how well that will go considering how stuffy she's been.  Wish me luck!

I've got a marvelous polish for you today by My Ten Friends, called Clusterfrak.  Everything is awesome about this polish, from the BSG reference to the military green shimmery base and contrasting glitters.  I always love myself a nice green, especially for fall, and this is the perfect shade of murky swampy, military green with lots of shimmer and colorful hex glitters in purple and blue, and a smattering of white squares.  Formula was sheer and thick, and I used four thin coats for the mani below, and the extra coats were worth it.  I finished with a layer of my Poshe/GCS mix, which btw, is finally starting to thicken up - usually Poshe or SV thicken up on me a lot sooner than this mix did.  I'll have to break out my Seche Restore(which I hate to do cuz I'm lazy like that).

And just because I can't resist matting out a sparkly glitter such as this, I used a layer of Essie Matte About You.

I can't decide which way I like this polish better, which only means I need to wear it both ways at some point.  I love how the purple glitters pop against the green - it gives it a hint of femininity that I often find lacking in my personal style.  It sparkles like mad too, which is what I love about a great glitter jelly.  Do you like pretty ugly polishes like this?  Which ones do you have?  I'm always looking for more!

Lacquer Lust Eternal Bliss and Babycakes Swatch And review

I'm very upset about what happen in Boston today.  It's a tragedy in every respect, and my heart goes out to all the victims of the explosions.  Most of all, I'm devastated that an 8 year old boy had to lose his life over someone's selfish agenda.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and people who are suffering in Boston right now.

     ************************************************************************

I have two Lacquer Lust polishes to show you tonight, since I was finally able to snag a couple during the last restock.  She doesn't stock too many polishes during her restocks so the bottles sell out lighting fast.

The first polish I have is Babycakes, a delicate pink tinged white crelly polish with hex glitters in dark gold, pink, white, and blue.  The first coat was super sheer but I was able to get opacity with three coats.  It dried smooth on its own and I only needed a coat of Poshe to add some extra shine.

Next I have Eternal Bliss, a beautiful silvery white holo.  I had trouble getting the holo to show up on camera but there was definitely a faint silvery rainbow.  The formula was sheer as well and I used three coats to get opacity.  No topcoat in these pics.  The first photo is in taken in the light tent, the rest are taken directly under light.

I wish Eternal Bliss had a bigger holo flare but it was really difficult to see indoors, even under direct light.  Next time I try this I'll see if the holo peeks out in sunshine.  It's still a very pretty delicate looking polish that I could see myself wearing.  Babycakes was equally as pretty but maybe not as unique as other indies I've seen.  I really like the dark gold glitters though, there doesn't seem to be many polishes that have that color.  After seeing these, would you f5 refresh repeatedly to score some Lacquer Lust polishes?

L'Oreal New Money Swatch And Review

I'm so glad it's the weekend, despite having to work today I had a nice evening with LO and my friend that's visiting from out of town.  We ordered some Thai food and stayed in to catch up and gossip.  Nothing beats a girls night in!

I recently saw a new green added to L'Oreal's core polishes called New Money so of course I had to snatch it up.  It's a perfect spring green, a nice and creamy pastel with a slight yellow undertone.  I love the formula of L'Oreal polishes and this was no different, I had no trouble with streaking and used two easy coats.  My only gripe with L'Oreal is the wide brush, but I'm not a fan of wide brushes in general since my nail beds are fairly narrow.  No topcoat in these pics so you can see it's own finish.

Sorry for the little ding on my ring finger, there was a loose strand on my clean up brush.  Overall though, I loved how bright and cheerful this green is, and I think it would be a great addition to my green collection because I don't think I have anything quite like it.  What do you think of this green?

KBShimmer Iris My Case and Get Clover It Swatch And Review

Today was another unexpectedly busy day for me.  I forgot I made plans with a coworker for a work dinner and so I worked a full day and then attended the dinner hosted by a company.  I think my hubby was a little disappointed to not get any down time from watching LO while I was working all day, but I guess that comes with the territory of being a parent.  There's never enough time to yourself anymore once a baby is around.

Yesterday I had two spring KBShimmers, Lottie Dottie and Spring Training, and tonight I have two more spring releases for you called Iris My Case and Get Clover It.  As I continue to swatch this collection, I can't help but be impressed at how professional KBShimmer polishes are.  One thing that came to my attention are the brushes - they're not too wide or too narrow.  They're not as wide as OPI brushes and they don't have a tapered tip, and are in my opinion, a perfect brush.  I wish more polishes had brushes like KBShimmers!

First I have is Iris My Case, and lovely pale lavender crelly with pastel multi sized hex glitter.  It's very similar to Spring Training in all respects except for the base color.  I had no trouble with application so no clumping or dragging and I used two layers for opacity.  It dried to a high shine on its own, just like Spring Training which I think is amazing considering its a glitter crelly.  To smooth it, I used a layer of SH Insta Dri to finish.

Lastly I have Get Clover It, a gorgeous emerald green jelly with tons of circle glitter, hooray!!   There are different colors of circles too, I think there's gold, teal, and silver if I'm not mistaken.  There's also a smattering of microglitter in there too.  I used three layers for this, my advice is to let the layers dry thoroughly between application because the circles like to migrate toward the tip so there can be dragging.  I used a layer of topcoat to finish.  I love that this green polish si just in time for St Patrick's day.

How pretty is that??  All these KBShimmers are making my heart pitter patter, and I can't decide which one I love more.  Everytime I put one on, I think I like it more than the last.  I still have one more to post, which I'll hopefully get to this week, but in the meantime, which one is your favorite so far?
