#31DC2013 Glitter Nails With Tipsy Turvy Nails Buffy Collection Swatch And Review

Hello, hello, hello!  I hope you're all doing well!  I'm in a great mood tonight because I managed to get my hands on the Google Chromecast and now I can stream video to my tv wirelessly via my phone or laptop.  Tonight we watched a few episodes of the last season of True Blood and I'm happy to be catching up!  I heard some disappointing reviews though, so my hopes aren't too high.  It's better to start with low expectations and be happy with a less than stellar ending rather than high expectations and be disappointed, right?

Nope!  Not for tonight's review anyway!  I've got some awesome glitter polishes for you, and they're just in time for today's challenge which is glitter nails!  I didn't do any actual nail art per se, but these glitters are so awesome they don't need any additional adornment to stand out.  I've got a great collection from Tipsy Turvy Nails based after the series Buffy The Vampire Slayer, one of the best series, evah!!  One night I was randomly googling stuff and and thought I'd see if there was a collection based on this series, and luckily enough, there was!  Tipsy Turvy Nails is an indie polish line created by two sisters with a love of nail polish, and with two very creative minds.

First up is Mmm Cookies!, a glorious mix of glitters in a sheer brown base.  I layered this over Barielle In Good Taste, a creamy brown - no pun intended either.  There's a delightful combination of purple, blue, and green medium sized hex and square glitters, with gold microglitter dispersed throughout.  The consistency was typical for a glitter polish and I used the dab and swipe method of application to get even distribution of glitters.  I finished with a layer of topcoat to even out the surface.

Of course, being a Buffy based polish collection, there's gotta be a polish based on Angelus, one of the most dynamic characters of the series.  This is black jelly with red, gold, green, and blue microglitters.  The red microglitter is the most prevalent of all the colors, which I think represents Angelus perfectly.  This is three thin coats and I had no trouble with application whatsoever.  It applied smoothy and evenly with no clumping or dragging of the glitters.  This is with no topcoat.

Finally, the last glitter I have for you is Beer Bad, an fantastic green jelly with iridescent and gold glitters.  This is truly an amazing polish!  I could watch the shifting iridescent colors all day, and the jelly gives it so much depth.  Love!!  I used three thin coats here, and again had no difficulties with application.  This is backup worthy for sure.  No topcoat in these pics.

Overall, I love love love this collection, not only because it's based after my favorite tv show ever, but because the glitter combinations are incredible and the formulas are on point.  There are four other polishes in this collection, and they all look just as fabulous as these three.  My favorite is Beer Bad because the polish is so unique and eye catching.

You can find Tipsy Turvy Nails on their Etsy store here.  Their polishes are $8 each and you can buy minis as well.  Their communication and turnaround time is super fast, making it a bonus to shop with them.

Those are my glitter nails for tonight's challenge!  I hope you understand why I didn't need to add anything extras to these manis - they're amazing on their own.  Please make sure you stop by the other ladies' posts to see what they came up with for today.

  3. Oh, I was thinking of getting Chromecast. How do you like it? I've heard some people have issues with streaming videos directly from chrome outside of netflix and youtube.

    1. It's a little confusing at first, but after I figured it out it was really easy. As long as you have the Chrome browser, you can drop in any video file into it(drag and drop) and it will play the video. You can then stream that video with the browser through through the Chromecast. I can play tv website movies through the Chrome browser as well, so Hulu, nbc.com, etc are all fair game!
