Today I have some lovely polishes from the LA Splash Cosmetics line. You may not have heard too much about their nail polishes, but I assure you, they are definitely worthwhile checking out. LA Splash has some really fun glitters and up to date color shades that are pigmented and easy to apply. This will be first post in a two set series.
LA Splash polishes are all bottled in long square shaped bottles with matching matte gold caps. The square caps don't pop off like Illamasqua bottles, so sometimes when closing the bottles, the lids don't re-alight to the bottle. The wand is longer than standard brushes, but not so long that it caused major pooling at the end of the brush. The brush is standard, and fans out well during application. The bottle isn't overly tall, which is nice, because it'll sit inside my helmer or storage drawer without hitting the top of the shelf.
First, I have for you a lovely rubber finish bright blue cream called Blowfish Blue. I used two easy to apply coats. The formula was smooth and perfect in consistency, and there was no streaking upon application. I was surprised by the finish because it appears more rubber than shiny or matte. Notice that there isn't any brush strokage visable. Win! No topcoat in these pics so you can see the finish.
Next I have a fantastic red cream called Red Sea. I LOVE this one. I've been searching high and low for a decent red cream that wasn't too jelly, and this may be the it! It's a slightly orange leaning red that applied like a dream with perfect consistency. I used two coats here and had no streaking during application, and without that translucency that I experience with other red creams. I did not use any topcoat in these pics so you can see its innate shine. After swatching this, I stashed it right into my "keep" drawer of red polishes. Mine!
And to finish this set, I have for you Heiress, a lovely purple with fuchsia undertones microglitter polish. The microglitter is very fine and suspended in a clear base, so to achieve opacity I used three coats here. You can probably use this is a glitter topper as well if you want to layer it over a base color such as purple. I had no issues with application here either, although it was thicker than the creams. It has the same consistency as most glitter polishes that I've used before. Dry time was relatively fast. I didn't use a topcoat here.
Don't you just love those fun, bright colors? LA Splash has plenty more and the formula is truly up to par with the other salon brands that I've tried. I'm excited to swatch the rest for you and they'll be up shortly this week.
