Dollish Polish Dark Elf Over Jessica Shopping On Rodeo Swatch And Review

I'm up super early this Saturday and grateful that this long crazy week is over!  Work has been nuts with all the staffing changes and I've been barely holding onto sanity as a result.  Hopefully I can make up for it by having a fun and relaxing weekend.  The first stop will be the baby gym so LO can have a little fun and interact with other kids her age.

Today I've got a great shimmering fuchsia glitter called Shopping On Rodeo by Jessica.  This polish leans a bit foilish but the fuchsia is super saturated and bright.  It applied much better than I had anticipated with a formula like butter and was opaque in one coat.  Gotta love that!  There's some microglitter embedded in the polish and you can see some of the sparkle shining through the polish, but for the most part they're hidden and it dries to a slightly grainy finish.  No topcoat in these pics so you can see for yourself.

My awesome friend Liz from Lacquer Slacker Liz kindly sent me my first Dollish Pollish to try, and being the first opportunity to really start posting swatches after the 31 Day Challenge, I used it straight away over Shopping On Rodeo.  It's called Dark Elf, and it's a multi colored microglitter suspended in a sheer pink jelly base.  The glitters range from fuchsia to orange to blue, all of which stand out on their own when hit by light.  The glitters tend to sink to the bottom of the bottle so I let it sit upside down a minute before and during application.  I started with a full coat on my pinky and then tried to do a gradient on the other nails with an ombre going towards my thumb.  Not sure if the ombre was really successful in the pics but it looks good to me IRL!  This is finshed with a layer of Poshe to smooth the glitters down.

Look at all those pretty glitters!!  I especially love the orange ones.  I think the combination of colors really work well together and would be a good transitional polish for fall.  Shopping On Rodeo is still hanging onto summer, but with the Santa Ana winds coming through this weekend here in SoCal, it still feels like it!  I plan on using my fall polishes really soon, because there's nothing better than a vamp in chilly weather.  Are you already doing fall/Halloween nails yet?

China Glaze Exotic Encouters and Jessica Platinum Wishes

Did you have fun shopping on Cyber Monday?  Surprisingly I didn't spend very much time online so I missed a lot of the sales, like the Saks and Nordstrom's first designer cuts online.  Luckily I pre-saled what I wanted already so I should be getting those in the mail any day soon.  My day was spent going to the movies with LO to see Life of Pi(sort of a letdown after reading the book several years ago) and then walking around the LA County Museum of Art.  I discovered a new floor at LACMA at the end of the day and now I want to go back and explore some more.

I'm on a teal kick and today I have China Glaze's Exotic Encounters from the On Safari collection to show you.  This is really a gorgeous cream shade and the formula was flawless.  Only two coats and it went on easily and smoothly.

I wanted to layer something over it so I tried Jessica's Platinum Wishes, a sparkly blue holographic glitter.  It appears chunky in the bottle but surprisingly it's actually a really fine glitter topcoat. It's not dense at all either, and shown below is one coat over Exotic Encounters.

I love the color of ChG Exotic Encounters and I'm planning on adding that to my collection, whereas I was a little disappointed in the Jessica - I was expecting a denser more chunky glitter by appearance of the bottle but it was completely the opposite.  Very deceiving, Jessica!  I do like the sparkliness of it but at the same time I feel like I already have a similar polish in my collection.
