Piper Polish Seeings Stars Swatch And Review

Hello polished lovelies!  I hope you're enjoying you weekend!  We've been having a low key weekend with lots of munching.  My favorite snacks this weekend have been the bacon and cheddar cheese from Trader Joes and chocolate covered dried strawberries that my DH's parents sent us for Valentine's day.  I could alternate eating those all day long!

Recently I fell in love with a swatch that I saw online of Polish Addict's Cursed, and ever since then I couldn't get it out of my head.  Unfortunately, it's been discontinued.  Womp, womp.  I googled for other black polishes with iridescent glitters and came across Piper Polish Seeings Stars during a sale.  In the bottle it seemed like a good dupe for Cursed, and I was excited to finally have my lemming squashed.  Application was easy enough, except that the dark jelly base was very sheer and I needed four coats for decent opacity.  The sheer base didn't want to build up to black, instead base is actually more of a brown to off black shade.  I adore the iridescent microglitter and squares but I can't help wish that there were more. I finished with a layer of topcoat which unfortunately wrinkled while drying.  Why does that happen sometimes?

I got greedy and decided to add moar glitter to satisfy my craving.  I used a Kiko  glitter topper along with Ethereal Laquer Gossamer in hopes that I would hit the glitter sweet spot.

Hmmm.... Maybe? I think it needs more of a glitter sandwich effect to make all the iridescent glitters work together. This is one of those times that I wish I could franken a polish.  I guess I could take one of those glitter toppers and add a little bit if black creme.  Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever pictured a particular polish in your head that you needed to create?

  1. This is such a unique color and I love it even more with the Ethereal Lacquer on top of it! That does suck about the wrinkling though. I remember seeing a franken someone made a while back using a black creme and Sally Hansen Rockstar and it totally looked like Butter London The Black Knight. For a while I considered doing it but then I finally came across a dupe so I didn't find it necessary. Still the idea of frankening polishes seems really fun.
