FingerPaints Abstract Attraction Over Misa Well Heeled Grey Swatch And Review

Purchased

Woohoo, it's Thursday!  Only one more day until the week is over.  I have to stash away my errant polishes today because my brother is arriving this evening and I wouldn't want him to see what I've been cookin up in the lab.  I'm not sure how I accumulate so many polishes, especially when I've been trying to be on a low buy these past couple months.  It made me start thinking about how prices of indies seem to be going up in price, which made me think about the most I've paid for a polish.  I think $30 has been the most I've paid, and it was for a HTF aka Unicorn Pee.... What's the most that you've paid for a polish?

Today's post features Misa Well Heeled Grey, a beautiful purple shimmer with grey undertones.  The name is misleading because it's certainly not grey, but more of a multi-faceted purple.  The formula on this was excellent, with smooth application and perfect consistency.  There are zero complaints here!  I could only wish all my polishes were like this. In fact, I think I've already worn this three times since receiving it in December.  It's a near one coater but there are two here for extra opacity.  And look ma, no topcoat!

FingerPaints recently released another collection of flakie topcoats, and although I haven't been wowed by the pics online, I ended up getting Abstract Attraction as my free bottle with my Sally's BOGO purchase.  I decided on AA purely based on the bottle appearance, which contained flakies reflecting opalescent blue.  This translated perfectly over Well Heeled Grey, but the overall effect wasn't as dramatic as I was hoping.  The flakies didn't stand out as strongly as I've noticed before with the previous FP flakie collection, possibly because the flakies have a flat appearance with their monochromatic coloring. It could be due to my basecolor as well, in that it wasn't dark enough to carry off the flakies.  I doubt it though, because the purple is pretty dark IRL!  This is one coat over the Misa, and I had no difficulty with application or with stray flakies sticking up or off the nails.  This is finished with a quick layer of topcoat.

I'll have to play with the flakies some more and see if I can find a good basecolor combination for Abstract Attraction.  I'm thinking a dark navy might be the best.  Have you tried either of these yet, whether it be a Misa polish or a FingerPaints flakie from either collection?

FingerPaints Chromatic Creation Swatch And Review

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!  This post was suppose to go up yesterday but for some reason my Firefox was not cooperating with the Blogger website.  In any case, my weekend has been out of sorts to say the least -  my family came down with the 24 hour stomach bug(those pesky daycare germs).  DH got it first, then it hit me Friday night, and Saturday I think LO came down with mild case.  We've been laid up all weekend, sleeping and eating bagels and soup.  Hopefully we'll be right as rain by the time my brother arrives mid week.

While making the bagel run, I realized that there was a Sally's enroute so I dropped in quickly to take advantage of the FingerPaints 2 for 1 sale going on all month long.  I picked up two and I have one of them for you today.  Sally's is also running their 50% off red tag sale this weekend, but all the good polishes were picked over at my store.  I was more interested in the FingerPaints anyway, and luckily they had some good colors for me to choose from.  I have a silver polish called Chromatic Creation, and the formula on this was smooth and easy to control.  I used no basecoat in these pics, and you can see the underlying imperfections of my nails.  It was opaque in two coats, but I did three for extra coverage on my longer nails.  No topcoat in these pics.

But wait, is that a prismatic rainbow I see in the last pic?  Could this be a holo in the new FingerPaints core line?  Why yes it is! Let's check it out under direct light, shall we?

ZZZzzzzzz..... Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to snooze there.  What were we doing again?  Oh yes, looking for the holo in Chromatic Creation.  If you look hard enough, it's there, albeit very weak and subtle.  In the day and age where indies rule the scene with amazingly strong holos in all colors and finishes, this doesn't even begin to compare.  I do appreciate that a salon brand made an attempt at a holo, and made it part of the core line at that.  I suppose this would be a wonderful surprise for a muggle who decides to pick up a seemingly plain ol' bottle of silver polish, but for us polish enthusiasts, it's a disappointment to say the least.  The price is the only plus, costing only a little over $5, and half that if you manage to pick up during this month's BOGO sale.  I'm hoping that I can still salvage this polish for stamping.  Would you consider adding this to your collection?

FingerPaints Itsy Bitsy Spider Over Wet n' Wild Who Is Ultra Violet? Swatch And Review

Happy Sunday Funday!  We'll be at the park today celebrating LO's birthday with family and friends.  There will be lots of good food and bbq, libations, and games.  I hope everything turns out well!  This includes the turtle cupcake cake that we're making from scratch.  Eeks!

I have another Wet n' Wild Pop Art Craze polish for you, and that's Who Is Ultra Violet?  It's a very apt name for this polish because it's a bright violet crelly that applied fairly well for being a crelly and was fully opaque in three coats.  Violets never look that great on me because of the pink undertones, but this one wasn't too bad.  It dried shiny on its own so no topcoat necessary.

I thought Who Is Ultra Violet might be a good base color for FingerPaints Itsy Bitsy Spider, a gorgeous violet with silver blue shimmer that was released this past spring in the Wild About Spring Collection.  This color is really stunning and the shimmer is really strong.  The only downfall is that it's very sheer and takes at least four coats to become opaque.  Here, I used one layer of Itsy Bitsy Spider over Who Is Ultra Violet and I think I got the same effect.  No topcoat in these pics either.

Don't you love that shimmer?  I'm not sure if this color is still available, but if you can find it I highly recommend it!  I can never get enough of shimmers like this.  I haven't used Finger Paints that much before but after this swatch I'm interested in trying more!  Do you like Finger Paints, and if so, what's your favorite color?

Finger Paints Turquoise Tile Swatch And Review

Summer is quickly becoming my favorite season for nail polish colors.  I love the vibrant colors and the neon trend is so fun!  I have another bright blue for you today, and that's Turquoise Tile by Finger Paints.  It's a lovely turquoise blue shimmer that has that glow-from-within effect.  It's rare to find a polish that glows with shimmer, and this is one of them.  The formula on this was excellent, two easy coats and I got decent opacity.  No topcoat in these pictures so you can see the inherent shine.

And one last pic of Turquoise Tile in sunshine - I snapped this in the car on the way to work with my camera phone.  It's not the same mani as above, this one was more hastily applied(LO was napping so I had to act quick) with two super thin coats and a layer of Poshe.

Don't you love that shimmer?  I wish I could find more like this.  One that comes to mind is Dior Exquis, but other than that, nothing else off the top of my head.  Do you know any polishes with a glowing shimmer?
