Different Dimensions Why Am I Such A Misfit? Swatch And Review

This time of year the chocolates get marketed full force, and one of my favorites is Cadbury Mini Eggs.  I can't get enough of that crisp candy outer shell and the velvety smooth chocolate within.  I like to buy a few bags to freeze so I can eat them throughout the rest of the year.  My BIL always raids my stash, so I'll have to remember to get a couple extra just for him.  Do you have a favorite chocolate or snack that you like to load up on?

Tis the season of glitters and light colored crellies, and today's polish hits that it right on the nail(no pun intended).  This is Different Dimensions Why Am I Such A Misfit? a sheer white crelly that contains a lovely array of circles, stars, hexes, and squares in shades of matte pastels and neons.  I'm always a sucker for a polish like this, there something about matte glitters that I gravitate towards.  The holographic microglitter ain't half bad either!  Unfortunately the base is super sheer, and I used four coats here and still had some VNL.  The formula is thick so caution is needed when applying towards the cuticles, and the glitters aren't as dense as I'd like.  I finished this with a layer of topcoat to add shine and smoothness.

I want the neons to pop some more, and I can see this would be an amazing color to use if skittled with neons.  I'm in love with all those light colored circle glitters floating in the white crelly base, and there's definitely some squishiness to enjoy.

Different Dimensions Orion Nebula Swatch And Review

Have you ever obsessed over something that was out of stock?  What am I talking about, if you're a female, then yes you have.  Currently I'm obsessing over a pair of shoes that I saw on instagram and that are currently out of stock online... I'm waiting for the first minute the store is open to call and ask if they can do a sku search for the item.  Hopefully they'll have it available for order!  What's the last thing you obsessed about that was possibly unattainable?

I've been wanting to try a circle glitter jelly ender since I first discovered swatches of them and I finally took the plunge with Different Dimensions version called Orion Nebula.  It's got a black jelly base and fuchsia circles in various sizes.  The base is sheer and the circles are few, and I needed for coats until I was satisfied with opacity. I turned the bottle upside down between costs so I could grab more glitters on the brush but I still had to fish for the larger circle glitters.  When I did manage to get one, of course it had to be one that had another clinging onto it and stacked upon the nail.  I finished with topcoat to add shine.

I noticed that I had quite a bit of bubbling, and I chalked it up to the me agitating the bottle too much to get those elusive large circles.  The bubbling is worth it though, look at that beautiful holo effect on those circles!  I like the overall spacey effect but I wish there were more of those holo circles.  Have you tried circle glitter jelly polishes before?

Different Dimensions That's So Fetch! Over Takko Lacqer Marie Antionette

Hey, hey, hey, how's your Sunday Funday going?  I'm not sure what we're getting into, most likely it will be low key with maybe a visit to the park so LO can run around and play.  I'm excited that Lost Girl is having their fourth season premier tomorrow, it feels like its been forever since I've seen their last episode.  Have you watched any of the episodes?  It coincides with the Golden Globes too - thank goodness for DVR!

Today's mani starts with Takko Lacquer Marie Antionette, a lovely ice blue with hidden purple shimmer.  I used three coats for this mani and had some streaking upon application.  I couldn't get some areas to even out, maybe because I didn't let it dry in between coats fully, I can't remember.  The formula was slightly thick but easy to manipulate, and I didn't have any cuticle flooding or pooling.  I added a layer of Poshe/GCS to finish.

Hopefully you can see that purple shimmer that pops out - it gives the icey blue a glowing touch of color.  It reminds me of a lighter version of RBL's Aqua Lily.  The purple is fairly prominent IRL and doesn't get lost after application.  I like how the shimmer contrasted and decided to add some purple glitter to accent the blue - enter Different Dimension's That's So Fetch!   It's a glitter topper of mostly purple multi sized hex glitters, but then there's a surprise element of iridescent blue hex glitter that peeps out at certain angles.  It makes an otherwise boring purple glitter into something unique and special.  I did a glitter gradient from the cuticles toward the tip, with some careful glitter placement towards the tip.  This is finished with another layer of topcoat.

You can see some of the iridescent glitters in the macro, and in real life, it gives the overall combination a purple mermaid effect.  There's lots of sparkling going on and I love it!  It doesn't come off as being overly pastel either, and seems fitting for the winter season.   Maybe that's what works for winter - lots and lots of glitter and sparkle, just like snow that's iced over a teensy bit, or icicles that hang from the roof.  Are you wearing a lot of glitter this season?

Different Dimensions Today Was A Fairytale Swatch And Review

Hello ladies!  How did you spend your New Year's Day?  I went out to dinner with my family at our favorite Japanese Izakaya restaurant.... yum yum.  As for today, I know it's going to be a busy day for me at work.  Luckily it's my last day of work for the week, and then I'm off for a three day weekend.  Woot woot!

In other news, the winners for the Hobby Polish Bloggers Giveaway have been announced, and I believe that the winners have all claimed their prizes.  Congrats if you won!!

To keep in theme with New Year's sparkle, I am happy to swatch Different Dimensions Today Was A Fairytale.  It's a delicate shimmery glitter based polish that's too sheer IMO to wear on its own so I used it over a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls(I'm still not a fan of this... not sure why so many ladies like this).  It's got a ton of pink and silver microglitter to create the shimmer effect, and to accent there are circle glitters in silver and pink and small holographic hex and square glitters.  It's got that wintery feel to it, sort of like iced snow with pink lights shimmering over it.  I used two coats here to maximize the shimmer effect and to get as many circle glitters as I could on the mani.  Unfortunately I didn't get as many as I'd like because they seemed to want to stay at the bottom of my bottle.  This is finished with a layer of topcoat.

The strong pink shimmer effect more than makes up for the lack of circle glitter.  It's probably a good thing that there isn't so many larger glitters anyway, because that can lead to stacking and glitters sticking out off the nail.  I'm always looking at the glass half full.  Speaking of glasses half full, I'd like to fill up mine from last night!  Are you on a sparkly glitter kick like I am, or are you moving onto other colors like vamps?  What's the color scheme for January anyway, being after the holidays but too early for spring?

Different Dimensions Boo You Whore Over Dior Gris Montagne

I've come to realize that as a mom, I get excited over the smallest things that LO accomplishes.  My days revolve around how much solids she can eat and how many dooies she can make in a day.  I never understood any of this in my pre-mom days but now I have to laugh at myself for becoming the person I never thought I would become.  Having a child really changes your perspective of life.

I couldn't resist the name of this polish and had to pick it up in my last Different Dimensions order.  It's called Boo, You Whore and it is a sheer blue jelly base with various shades of blue multi sized glitter.  I layered it over Dior Gris Montagne, a perfect shade of grey.  It might have looked better over a blue base but I wanted an excuse to use the Dior.

First, Gris Montagna swatches:  I found the formula to be perfect with only two coats needed for opacity.  There is no topcoat over this beauty in these pics.

Finally, DD Boo, You Whore layered over it.  I found the formula to be easy to apply and I only needed one layer of it to achieve the perfect density of glitter.  I finished with a layer of Poshe over it.
