GlitterDaze Can't Have Your Brains And Eat 'Em Too Swatch And Review

Happy Manic Monday!  Hopefully everyone had a nice relaxing weekend.  Too help me overcome my cold, I binged on soup all weekend, specifically noodle soups like tonkotsu ramen(not from the bag) and chicken pho.  That's my kind of comfort food!  Today I might try to make some chicken pozole - I haven't made it in quite a while and nothing beats the yummy chicken broth with hominy and a squeeze of lemon.  I'm already drooling thinking about it.

I have another new to me brand today, and that's GlitterDaze Can't Have Your Brains And Eat 'Em Too.  This is clearly a Halloween themed polish, but I think the colors work for any time of season because it doesn't resound with your typical Halloween colors like black and orange.  Instead, this is a dark green jelly jammed with colorful glitters like gold, fuchsia, green, and a tiny bit of orange.  The glittery goodness sparkles like mad and it took two coats for the results below.  The base is still a bit sheer for my liking but I felt that there was plenty of glitter on the nail.  The formula didn't clump or pool, and it applied incredibly smoothly.  To finish, I used GlitterDaze's fast drying topcoat.  I'll post a review on that later once I test it out more.

I really love all the colors and sizes of glitter within this polish, and the shade of jelly is straight up my alley.  For a Halloween polish, this can be easily be pulled off for Christmas or spring.  It did remind me of another green jelly glitter that I own, and that's My Ten Friends Clusterfrak, a polish that made it into my 2013 favorites.  Is it any wonder that I gravitated towards this beauty by GlitterDaze?  Do you do that, buy a polish that is similar to what you already own?  Who am I kidding, of course you do!

PolisHaus Poof Panties Swatch And Review

Um, yeah, you read that title right.  Hold that thought.

My DH is a compulsive mustard buyer.  Every time we go to the grocery, he has to buy a bottle of mustard.  Granted he does go through them pretty quickly, but sometimes, before I know it, I've got three or four opened bottles of the same mustard in the fridge.  It drives me crazy.  Most of them are nearly used up but still have that tiny bit at the bottom that's hard to get out.  Luckily, I've learned I can reuse those errant bottles by adding some vinegar, oil, honey, and some spices to create a nice honey mustard dressing for salads.  Yup, I'm resourceful like that.  I thought I'd pass on that little trick in case you've got a compulsive mustard buyer like my DH.

Back to that first thought - I had to give this polish a try because I couldn't get over that name, it's hilarious!  It's by an indie called PolisHaus that I've seen mostly on Instagram.  It's funny, there's  a whole other community of nail polish lovers on Instagram, from indie makers to swatchers to fans, separate from the blogs and forums.  It's really interesting and equally fun and interactive.  Anyway, back to Poof Pantie - it's a medium purple jelly crammed with tiny multicolored microglitter and holo glitters.  Application was ok - the first coat was super sheer and I didn't get many glitters, so the subsequent two layers I used thicker coats to get more of the glitter on the nail.  The polish itself was easy to control and didn't pool.  It dried on the gritty side, so Gelous and topcoat are needed to get a glassy shine.

The multitude of colors are fun to look at and keep the polish interesting, but the holo glitters are the real star of the show.  There's a ton of sparkle to be had and it really lights up the purple base. Being my first PolisHaus polish, I have to say that I'm looking forward to trying more of them, especially if they're just as fun and colorful as Poof Panties.  I'm not sure what the Poof Panties reference is for but if anyone knows, please let this old lady know... my Google search shows a youtube video and a fake Justin Bieber twitter account.
